July 24: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made it easier for citizens to update their Aadhaar card details online. Whether it’s a change in name, address, or phone number, Aadhaar holders can now make updates through a few simple steps on the official UIDAI website.
Updating Aadhaar is important as it is used widely for identity and address proof, bank account opening, property transactions, and various government services. With Aadhaar linked to both phone numbers and bank accounts, keeping the information accurate helps avoid delays and problems in official work.
According to UIDAI, changes can be made both online and offline. For online updates, Aadhaar holders can follow the steps below:
Steps to Update Aadhaar Online:
- Visit the UIDAI website: Go to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
- Log in: Enter your Aadhaar number and verify with the OTP sent to your mobile number
- Choose the update option: Select the section you want to update – name, address, or mobile number
- Click on ‘Update Aadhaar’
- Follow instructions: Read and understand the instructions shown on the screen
- Select the detail to be updated: Choose what you want to change and continue
- Enter new details: Review existing information and enter the updated details correctly
- Upload document proof: Choose a valid supporting document, scan and upload it
- Make the payment: Pay ₹50 as a non-refundable fee
- Get SRN: After submission, a Service Request Number (SRN) will be given for tracking the status
