Mumbai, June 29, 2025: In a major drug bust, Mumbai Customs Zone-III officials seized hydroponic marijuana worth ₹5.11 crore at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The incident occurred on June 27, when an Indian national arrived from Bangkok via IndiGo flight 6E 1052.

During a thorough examination of the passenger’s checked-in baggage and personal search, customs officers recovered 5,119 grams of hydroponic weed hidden inside the luggage.

The high-grade contraband, grown using hydroponic techniques, is highly sought after in the black market for its potency and purity.

The seized drugs were confiscated under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The accused was immediately taken into custody, and a detailed probe is currently underway to trace the origin and possible network involved in the smuggling.
