The controversy surrounding Manorama Khedkar, mother of trainee IAS officer Pooja Khedkar, has escalated with multiple legal issues arising against her. Recently, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar issued a show cause notice to Manorama Khedkar regarding her gun license, following an incident where no one appeared to collect the notice, prompting police to affix it outside her residence.
The notice requires Manorama Khedkar to explain within 10 days why her gun license should not be revoked. This action stems from a case registered under the Arms Act by Pune Rural Police, where a local farmer alleged threats from Manorama Khedkar and others.
In a separate development, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has also served a notice to Manorama Khedkar for encroaching on PMC-owned land near her residence in Aundh. The notice, posted on her residence’s wall, details a structure along the boundary wall that encroaches onto road space, causing inconvenience and safety concerns for citizens.
According to reports, a viral video from 2023 shows Manorama Khedkar allegedly threatening individuals with a gun, related to a land dispute involving farmers. This video led to an FIR against her under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act.
“The Police have registered an FIR against Manorama Khedkar and others, including Dilip Khedkar, based on a complaint from a local farmer,” stated Pune Rural Police. The FIR includes charges related to threats and violations under the Arms Act.
This legal turmoil comes amidst scrutiny of Pooja Khedkar’s family, with reports linking controversies surrounding her mother to public and legal scrutiny. As the investigations progress, the situation continues to draw attention, both locally and nationally.
