IIM Mumbai to Open New Campus in Pune by 2026

Pune, Sep 21: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai is set to establish a new campus in Pune, creating a major academic hub for the city and the state of Maharashtra.

Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol called the move a historic milestone for both Pune and Maharashtra’s academic and industrial growth. He said the new campus will complement Pune’s rise as a technology and industrial hub while giving students access to world-class management education locally.

Mohol added that the institute will not only boost entrepreneurship but also help transform innovative ideas into successful ventures with strong management support. He emphasized that the initiative is in line with the vision of a self-reliant India and will contribute to the national mission of “Developed India 2047.”

IIM Mumbai Director Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwari said the plan is to launch capacity-building and short-term executive training programs at the Pune campus from the academic year 2026. He expressed gratitude to Minister Mohol for making the expansion possible and noted that the move will allow IIM Mumbai to play a bigger role in achieving the nation’s development goals.

Highlighting the importance of the new center, Mohol described Mumbai as the financial capital and Pune as a hub for technology and education. He said the new “Knowledge Corridor” between the two cities will open fresh opportunities for students and industries, marking a new era for Maharashtra’s academic and industrial landscape.
