Illegal Liquor Worth Over ₹19 Lakh Seized by State Excise Department in Pune; Four Arrested
Pune, August 6, 2025The State Excise Department’s Flying Squads 1 and 3 in Pune have seized illicit liquor and related materials worth ₹19,71,200 during a major crackdown.
Acting on reliable intelligence, the teams conducted raids on Tuesday, August 5, at three separate locations: Market Yard (Pune), Shelpimpalgaon (Tal. Khed), and Ambi (Tal. Maval). The operation led to the confiscation of 3,220 litres of country-made liquor, five vehicles, and other material used in the illegal liquor trade.
Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.
The operation was led by Excise Inspector Devdatt Pote and included officers DS Suryawanshi, YM Chavan, AD Gaikwad, Assistant Inspectors Sagar Sable and Sanjay Sathe, along with team members Ahmed Shaikh, Bharat Nemade, Chandrakant Naik, Vijay Bhanavase, Amar Kamble, Anil Dangat, GB Mane, Jaydas Date, Jagannath Chavan, woman officer Akshada Kad, and drivers Pramod Kharsade and Sharad Handgar.
The Excise Department noted that the production and sale of banned and country-made liquor causes significant revenue loss to the state. Inspector Pote urged the public to report any such illegal activities to Flying Squad 1 (Tadiwala Road, Pune) or Flying Squad 3 (Talegaon Dabhade, Maval).
