CCTV footage of an Indian family allegedly shoplifting from a roadside vendor in Hoi An, Vietnam, has gone viral, sparking outrage and debate on social media.

The video shows a man and woman, accompanied by their baby, stealing items from a street-side shop while pretending to browse. In the clip, the man can be seen discreetly taking items and hiding them when the shopkeeper turns around to fetch clothes. Meanwhile, his wife, holding their child, also picks up another item when the shop owner is distracted.

The video was first shared on Reddit with the caption, “Tourist stealing from a street vendor in Vietnam.” The footage highlights the couple’s misconduct and has been widely condemned online, with users calling the act shameful and questioning their morals.

Others pointed out the irony of their actions, with one user commenting, “They have money for flight tickets but not for souvenirs? What are they trying to teach their kid by doing this in front of them?” Another added, “As an Indian, I feel embarrassed because of people like this who tarnish our country’s image abroad.”

The incident has triggered discussions on how such behaviour reflects poorly on tourists and undermines the values they pass on to future generations.
