India's Job Market Sees 48% Surge in Opportunities for Women in 2025: Report
New Delhi, March 3: India’s job market is witnessing a significant transformation, with job opportunities for women expected to rise by 48% in 2025 compared to the previous year, according to a report released by foundit (formerly Monster APAC & ME) on Monday.
The report highlights that fresh graduates will constitute approximately 25% of the available positions for women in 2025. This reflects an increasing demand for early-career professionals, particularly in key sectors such as information technology (IT), human resources (HR), and marketing.
Boom in High-Growth Sectors
The surge in employment opportunities is driven by the growing demand in critical industries including IT, banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), manufacturing, and healthcare. Emerging technology roles such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, data science, and cloud computing are also witnessing increased recruitment of women professionals.
The majority of women in the workforce are in the 0-3 years experience bracket, comprising 53% of the workforce, while those with 4-6 years of experience account for 32%. The IT and software sector remains the top employer for women, representing 34% of their job opportunities. Other prominent sectors providing employment include recruitment/staffing/RPO, BFSI, and advertising/PR/events.
Salary Trends and Emerging Job Markets
The salary distribution indicates that 81% of employed women earn between ₹0-10 lakh per annum, followed by 11% earning ₹11-25 lakh, while 8% receive salaries exceeding ₹25 lakh.
Additionally, women’s employment in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities has grown significantly, with cities like Nashik, Surat, Coimbatore, and Jaipur now accounting for 41% of women’s jobs. Tier-1 cities continue to hold the majority, with 59% of the workforce.
Increasing Presence in STEM and Engineering Roles
The representation of women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields is also on the rise, with women making up 44% of STEM graduates in India. Moreover, women’s participation in engineering and production roles has grown from 6% to 8% over the past year, highlighting a shift towards specialized technical fields.
Future Outlook
“The Indian job market is evolving rapidly, creating greater access and opportunities for women, particularly in high-growth industries and tech-driven roles. While challenges persist in areas like salary parity and evolving work-mode preferences, the overall outlook for women’s workforce participation in 2025 remains highly encouraging,” said Anupama Bhimrajka, VP-Marketing, foundit.
With the rapid expansion of employment opportunities across industries, India is poised for a more inclusive and diverse workforce in the coming years.
