Following the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI171 near Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, IndiGo Airlines has issued a travel advisory alerting passengers to operational disruptions. The crash, which involved 242 people on board, has led to the temporary suspension of airport operations, causing delays and cancellations.

IndiGo informed passengers via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that several flights are affected due to runway restrictions at Ahmedabad Airport. The airline advised that passengers with impacted bookings can rebook their tickets or request a full refund through its official website.

“Our thoughts are with the families of those affected. We seek your kind understanding, as these are truly challenging times for everyone,” IndiGo said in its statement, expressing condolences for the crash victims.

The Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, operating from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff at around 2:00 PM near the Meghani Nagar area, just outside the airport perimeter. Emergency teams responded swiftly as thick plumes of black smoke rose from the site.

Although the exact number of casualties remains unconfirmed, several injured passengers were rushed to the city civil hospital. Onboard were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, and one Canadian.

IndiGo assured passengers that their support teams are active across all channels to assist with queries and rebooking options as the situation unfolds.
