IndiGo Airlines is facing criticism following a passenger from Kolkata who voiced his dissatisfaction on LinkedIn regarding the airline’s management of a delayed flight. Ritham Bhattacharjee shared a video capturing a tense interaction with the cabin crew, labeling the service as “appalling” and condemning the staff’s unprofessional conduct.

“The CCU-MAA flight was delayed by five hours. To add insult to injury, the compensation offered was a paltry packet of chips and a single cookie. Passengers were forced to remain seated inside the aircraft the entire time, which is simply unacceptable. The attendants on both flights displayed unprofessional behaviour. Specifically, the team on the return flight was particularly uncooperative and rude,” he wrote in his LinkedIn post.

Bhattacharjee shared his experience from January 6, detailing that his flight from Kolkata (CCU) to Chennai (MAA) faced an unreasonable delay of five hours. During this time, passengers remained inside the plane, receiving only minimal compensation in the form of a packet of chips and a cookie.

“As a loyal customer with many pleasant memories of flying with Indigo, I was shocked by this experience. It seems that InterGlobe Aviation’s focus on being a low-cost airline has resulted in low-cost services but at the expense of customer satisfaction. I request that you take immediate action to address these issues and provide better training to your staff. I hope that in the future, Indigo will prioritize customer experience and provide services that meet the expectations of its loyal customers,” he adds.

Indigo has issued a statement in response to his allegations, “Bhattacharjee, thank you for taking the time to speak with us and allowing us to address the matter. We understand the inconvenience caused by the flight delay due to adverse weather conditions in Kolkata. Our crew also ensured that refreshments were provided, and water was served multiple times during the wait.
