Famous auctioneer Mallika Sagar faced a challenging day on November 24 during the first day of the IPL mega auction 2024, as she made several significant errors. These mistakes caused financial setbacks for both the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), disrupting the key strategies that these teams had planned for the auctions.

One of the most significant mistakes during Day 1 of the IPL 2025 mega auction occurred when Sagar miscommunicated regarding the bidding for English wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler. The Gujarat Titans ended up paying ₹15.75 crore for Buttler, even though the Rajasthan Royals had already outbid them. This mix-up was due to a momentary lapse in concentration from auctioneer Mallika Sagar. After Gujarat Titans bid ₹15.50 crore, she mistakenly asked LSG if they wanted to raise their bid to ₹15.75 crore. LSG declined, but Sagar announced that the final amount was set, causing the Titans to overpay by ₹25 lakh.

Another significant error made by Mallika Sagar involved the bidding for batter Abhinav Manohar, who had a base price of ₹30 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The bidding kicked off with fierce competition between RCB and CSK. When RCB withdrew, the Gujarat Titans entered the bidding. Eventually, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) joined in at ₹2.40 crore. As the bid climbed to ₹2.80 crore, CSK pulled out, and Manohar was declared sold to SRH for that amount as the hammer fell.
