Rishabh Pant, among the initial players selected during the auction, is poised to become the highest-priced player in the history of the sport. Currently, the record is held by Mitchell Starc, who was acquired for INR 24.75 crore by the Kolkata Knight Riders in last year’s auction.

A total of 577 players will be available for bidding during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, scheduled to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The upcoming auction is set to feature prominent Indian players such as Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer, raising the likelihood of surpassing the Rs 25-crore limit this year.

Pant, Iyer, and Arshdeep are included in the initial group of marquee players scheduled for Day 1, while the second group features Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj. Notably, seven out of the twelve marquee players in the auction are Indian internationals.

A total of 577 names will be available for bidding to fill 204 positions. The combined budget of the 10 teams amounts to ₹641.5 crores, with Punjab Kings holding the largest allocation at ₹110.5 crores.

The base price of ₹2 crore has been established as the maximum for players in the IPL 2025 mega auction, with 81 players opting to enter this top tier. Additionally, there are two marquee sets featuring a total of seven Indian players. Rishabh Pant belongs to the Marquee Set 1.

Marquee Set 1 includes: Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Jos Buttler, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, and Mitchell Starc.

Marquee Set 2 comprises: KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Liam Livingstone, David Miller, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj.

As a registered player in Marquee Set 1, Pant’s name will be included in the draw alongside players numbered 1 to 6. The Marquee Set 1 is scheduled to commence at 3:30 PM IST. Pant is permitted to participate in the bidding process at any time following the start and may continue until 4:30 PM IST.

Rishabh Pant’s potential to set new auction records is rooted in his remarkable journey marked by resilience and determination. After enduring a year-long recovery from a severe car accident in 2022, he made a notable return in 2024, taking the helm of the Delhi Capitals. Although the team secured a sixth-place finish, Pant’s exceptional performances underscored his reputation as one of the most dynamic players in cricket.
