IPL 2025 Playoffs Schedule Out: Ahmedabad to Host Final on June 3
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially unveiled the much-anticipated schedule and venues for the IPL 2025 playoffs, setting the stage for a thrilling finish to what has been an action-packed season. Cricket fans can gear up for high-stakes clashes starting May 29, with the final showdown scheduled for June 3 at the colossal Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The playoff journey kicks off at the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh—commonly referred to as the Mullanpur Stadium—which will host the first two playoff matches. The top two teams from the league stage will lock horns in Qualifier 1 on Thursday, May 29. The very next day, Friday, May 30, the stadium will witness the Eliminator, a do-or-die battle between the third and fourth-placed teams in the standings.
Following these two crucial fixtures, the action will move to Ahmedabad. On Sunday, June 1, the Narendra Modi Stadium will be the venue for Qualifier 2, where the loser of Qualifier 1 will get another chance to reach the final by facing off against the winner of the Eliminator. The grand finale, which will determine the champion of IPL 2025, is set to take place at the same venue on Tuesday, June 3.

BCCI honorary secretary Devajit Saikia expressed excitement over the playoff venues, saying that after an intense league phase filled with drama, energy, and memorable performances across 70 matches, the focus now turns to the most exciting leg of the tournament. He added that Ahmedabad, known for its massive stadium and electric atmosphere, is ready to host the climax of the season.
Originally, Hyderabad and Kolkata were slated to host the playoff fixtures. However, the IPL Governing Council made changes following a week-long suspension of the tournament, which occurred mid-season due to an India-Pakistan military standoff. The revised schedule and venue choices were influenced by weather-related concerns and logistical feasibility.
In a related development, the May 23 fixture between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), initially scheduled in Bengaluru, has been shifted to Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. The decision comes after persistent rains in Bengaluru caused the previous match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to be washed out.
Acknowledging the unpredictable weather conditions this season, the BCCI has also extended the extra time allowance to complete matches. Previously, only playoff games had a 120-minute extension window, but now league-stage matches will also benefit from the same buffer, doubling the earlier one-hour allowance.
Here’s the updated IPL 2025 Playoffs and Final Schedule:
May 29 (7:30 PM IST): Qualifier 1 – New PCA Stadium, Mullanpur
May 30 (7:30 PM IST): Eliminator – New PCA Stadium, Mullanpur
June 1 (7:30 PM IST): Qualifier 2 – Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
June 3 (7:30 PM IST): Final – Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
As the league phase draws to a close, anticipation is reaching fever pitch. With new venues and fresh stakes, fans across the globe can expect a dramatic and unforgettable finish to the 18th season of the TATA IPL.
