‘It’s Now Very, Very Hard’: Billion-Dollar Firm BlackBuck Exits Bengaluru Hub Over Worsening Potholes

A big Bengaluru company worth more than $1 billion has decided to pack up and leave its office because of the city’s terrible potholes. BlackBuck, one of India’s top digital trucking platforms, says the roads have become so bad that it’s hurting employees and their daily commute. The company has been working out of its Outer Ring Road (ORR) office in Bellandur for almost ten years, but now they say enough is enough.

Why BlackBuck is leaving Bengaluru

BlackBuck’s CEO, Rajesh Kumar Yabaji, shared the news on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “Roads full of potholes and dust, coupled with the lowest intent to get them rectified. Did not see any of this changing in the next five years,” and even added a broken-heart emoji to show how upset he was. According to reports, employees were spending more than 90 minutes every day just trying to cross dangerous, bumpy stretches of road to reach the office.

This decision shows how badly Bengaluru’s crumbling roads are affecting even its most successful businesses. BlackBuck is reportedly valued at more than Rs 10,900 crore ($1.3 billion) as of September 2025. The company, which started in 2015 as Zinka Logistics Solutions, helps connect shippers with truck operators using technology. Nearly one-third of India’s truckers use the platform every month.

More about BlackBuck

BlackBuck went public in late 2024 with a valuation of Rs 4,818 crore and has grown fast. According to reports, in the first quarter of the financial year 2026, the company reported Rs 143.6 crore in revenue, 56% more than last year, and a net profit of Rs 33.7 crore. Even with such strong growth, the bad roads of Bellandur proved too big a problem to ignore.

Bellandur’s Growing Traffic Mess

Once seen as a key part of Bengaluru’s IT success, the ORR stretch between Silk Board and KR Puram has now become a nightmare. Traffic has grown 45% in the past year. Dust, potholes and constant jams have made life miserable for people who work there.  Even Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar admitted that Bengaluru is “not a planned city.”

What People Are Saying Online

The CEO’s tweet quickly got more than a thousand reposts, and many people began talking about it. Former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai reacted to BlackBuck’s decision by calling it “a big failure of governance,” warning it could hurt the city’s global reputation.

Some were simply curious and asked, “Where are you moving to?”, “Where are you going?” and “Where are you moving to?” Others began suggesting new places for the company to set up office, from Hyderabad to Vizag. One person even said, “Anywhere outside Bangalore is a decent solution.”

For a city that once proudly called itself India’s Silicon Valley, this incident is being seen in the comments as a serious wake-up call.
