From Ayodhya to Ontario, a 51-foot tall idol of Shri Ram becomes a symbol of devotion, identity, and cultural pride.

A 51-foot statue of Lord Ram, the tallest in North America was unveiled on Sunday at the Hindu Heritage Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. Drawing inspiration from Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir, the statue was crafted in Delhi and assembled by skilled artisans in Canada. Towering above its surroundings (excluding the base and umbrella), it now stands as a spiritual and cultural beacon in the Greater Toronto Area.

Over 10,000 devotees gathered for the unveiling, transforming the event into a grand celebration of faith and heritage. Among those present were Canadian cabinet ministers Rechie Valdez, Maninder Sidhu, and Shafqat Ali, as well as the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Commons signaling broad political recognition of the moment.

The idol, made of fiberglass and supported by a steel superstructure, is engineered to withstand winds up to 200 km/h and is expected to last over 100 years. Strategically placed near Toronto Pearson International Airport, it now serves as a stunning first sight for arriving passengers a literal and symbolic welcome to Canada’s pluralistic spirit.

The statue has already become a sensation across social media, with one viral post reading, “From Ayodhya to Ontario, the name of Shri Ram echoes louder than borders.”

Initiated four years ago and made possible by a generous Indo-Canadian donor, the statue stands not just as a physical marvel, but as a powerful reminder of enduring values resilience, peace, and identity carried across oceans and generations.
