JioCinema, the streaming platform by Reliance Industries, launches new subscription plans to compete with leading OTT platforms like Netflix and Disney+Hotstar. The JioCinema Premium plan, priced at ₹29 per month, offers ad-free access to original series, movies, children’s shows, and TV entertainment across languages on any device. Additionally, a family plan priced at ₹89 per month allows streaming on up to four devices simultaneously.

While sports content and some entertainment programming remain free with ads, the new ad-free plans cover original series and movies such as “Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond” and “Murder In Mahim.” Family-friendly content including titles like “Motu Patlu,” “Shiva,” and “Rudra” will also be ad-free, with serials available to JioCinema members before TV airing. The platform also offers international content from partners like Peacock, HBO, Paramount, and Warner Bros Discovery in multiple languages.

The JioCinema Premium plan significantly undercuts competitors like Netflix and Disney+Hotstar, making premium entertainment more accessible to Indian households. With offerings like 4K streaming, high-quality audio, offline viewing, and no device restrictions, JioCinema aims to redefine the premium entertainment experience for Indian users.

As video streaming platforms increasingly adopt ad-supported models, revenue from ad-free subscription plans in India is projected to grow at a CAGR of 19% from 2022 to 2027. This shift reflects a broader trend in the industry as platforms revisit content breadth and budgets to cater to evolving consumer preferences.

In February, Reliance Industries partnered with The Walt Disney Co. to merge their media businesses, creating a formidable entity in India’s entertainment landscape. This move underscores the company’s commitment to providing unparalleled entertainment experiences and leveraging synergies in the evolving OTT market.
