Pune – A 49-year-old software professional sustained injuries after being bitten by a Rottweiler while jogging near the Pancard Club area in Baner. The incident took place on March 23 around 7:15 am, when the dog allegedly attacked the jogger from behind, injuring his hand and wrist. The Baner police have registered a case against the dog’s handler, identified as Abhinav, and the pet’s owner, Naynaz Irani.

The complainant, Suyog Raut, a resident of the Pancard Club area, was immediately taken to a private hospital for treatment. Following his recovery, a formal complaint was lodged on April 9.

According to the police, the Rottweiler was roaming freely in a public area, posing a potential threat. “Despite being aware of the risks, the pet was not restrained. The victim sustained bite injuries to his hand and wrist.

Authorities have filed charges under Sections 291 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). No arrests have been made in the case so far.
