Three women lost their lives in a tragic road accident on the Pune-Bangalore National Highway (NH-48) near Noolvi Cross in Hubballi late Saturday night (April 5), police officials confirmed.

The victims, all residents of Lingaraj Nagar, were travelling from Varur village to Hubballi when their car rammed into a road divider and then crashed into a compound wall.

According to Dharwad Superintendent of Police Gopal M Byakod, the deceased have been identified as Sujata (61), Sampatkumari (60), and Gayatri (65).

Another woman, Shakuntala (75), succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, while 69-year-old Veerbassayya is undergoing treatment at a government facility.

The group was travelling in a Renault Kwid when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle near Noolvi Cross. The impact left the car completely damaged, and the victims were critically injured. Three of them died on the spot, while another passed away later in hospital.

Hubballi Rural Police have registered a case and launched a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
