Contestant Chhinder Pal quits at the ₹1 crore question, choosing to secure his family’s future with his winnings.

Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, hosted by Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, continues to capture viewers’ attention since its August 11 premiere. In the September 18 episode, rollover contestant Chhinder Pal, a carpenter who earns ₹600 a day, took the hot seat and showcased remarkable knowledge and composure.

With strategic use of lifelines such as the audience poll and 50:50, he advanced through tough general knowledge questions. At one point, he successfully answered a ₹12,50,000 question on which world leader the CIA allegedly tried to assassinate with poisoned cigars, correctly identifying Fidel Castro.

Chhinder Pal went on to win ₹50 lakh after answering the question: “The Blue Nile and White Nile meet in which capital city before becoming one stream and flowing into the Mediterranean?” He chose Khartoum, the correct answer.

His run came to a halt at the ₹1 crore question: “Before becoming the head of the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India, George Everest surveyed which of these islands from 1814–1816?” The options were Jeju, Jamaica, Jersey, and Java. The correct answer was Java, but uncertain and unwilling to risk dropping to ₹5 lakh, he chose to quit.

In an emotional exchange with Amitabh Bachchan, Chhinder Pal shared his plans for the prize money. “My elder son loves cricket, my younger son loves football. I will enrol both of them in a good coaching institute. Today, I feel I can do something for us. I can secure my sons’ education too,” he said, expressing gratitude and relief.

Chhinder Pal’s journey on KBC 17 stood out as an inspiring story of determination, resilience, and a father’s dream to give his children a brighter future.
