“Koi Bhi Mat Aana Manali”: Tourists Warned as Heavy Snowfall Strands 2,000 Vehicles in Himachal Pradesh

Manali, December 28 – A social media user has urged tourists to avoid visiting Manali and Solang Valley following heavy snowfall that left over 1,800 vehicles stranded in the region.

Instagram user Chlucky Tyagi shared a video depicting stationary traffic along the Solang Valley-Atal Tunnel route. In his post, he warned, “Koi bhi mat aana! (Do not come!)” Tyagi explained that road conditions had deteriorated due to continuous snowfall, and heavier snow was expected over the next 3-4 days.

The video, filmed late Saturday night, showed a long line of immobilized vehicles on snow-covered roads. Tyagi revealed that he had been stranded since 10 am and expressed uncertainty about when or how he and others could leave. He also noted that even a Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s (SDM) vehicle was caught in the gridlock.

Himachal Pradesh Police confirmed that rescue operations were underway to assist those stranded, over 2,000 vehicles were affected by the snowfall between Solang Valley and the Atal Tunnel. Approximately 1,800 vehicles were evacuated, while efforts were ongoing to rescue the remaining 200.

The region has been grappling with heavy rainfall and snowfall over the past two days, causing landslides and widespread disruptions. According to the state meteorological department, light to moderate snowfall is expected in the mid and high hills on December 29, 30 and 31.

Tourists are advised to avoid traveling to Himachal Pradesh until conditions improve.
