LARGEST SOCIO-ECONOMIC SURVEY IS BEING CONDUCTED IN KONDHWA

Societies such as Rahul Residency, Riva Residency, Nanak Residency, Lysha Enclave and few others in the vicinity have received q request letter from the National Statistical Office to participate in the Socio Economic survey held by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.

National Statistical Office under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India is conducting a large scale Socio – Economic Survey which plays a major role in development of nation with contribution of valuable data required for planning research, policy formation and implementation of welfare policies which leads to betterment and welfare of the society.

Junior statistical office is conducting the 78 th round of survey from 1st January 2020 to 31st March 2021 on multiple indicators. The multiple indicators survey will be useful to provide data for compiling national and international indicators for the Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030 of the United Nations).

How is the data collected ?
The data is collected through door to door visits of selected areas in urban block / rural villages. WEll qualified trained officials using tablets which are specially designed for these surveys are used. These houses are selected on a scientifically designed technique, list the houses and households, and select a specified number of households to collect the detailed information by interviewing the head of household or a responsible and knowledgeable person of the household. 20 households are selected for collection of information.

National indicators such as accessibility to education, health care facilities, drinking water facility, proportion of population having bank accounts, percentage of women having formal financial institution, proportion of population using sanitation facilities, access to electricity, birth registration status, household’s access to mass media (radio, tv, internet), by sex of household head, information on whether any of the member of the household has acess to mass media, construction of houses since 2014-15, migration, possession of air conditioners and air collers in the household will be collected.

Officials Say :
Sanjeev Fulzale, senior statistical officer from the office of the ministry of statistics informed that it is a normal survey which our department conducts. Societies should co-operate in such surveys which are conducted by the Ministry of Statistics.

Santosh Kumar, junior statistical officer from the office of the Ministry of Statistics based in Akurdi Pune shared, “This is a general survey which is conducted every quarter. This year we could not hold it due to Covid19 pandemic. The blocks are identified as per blocks. We as officers get the block numbers on the map. This could be any area in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. Under Pune region, we have four areas Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, Ahmednagar, Ratnagiri. We asked every generalised question which are a part of the survey samples. Similar survey is also being conducted in the SRPF campus in Wanowrie.”

Joel Varghese, of Riva Residency said, “This is the first time that we have received this letter. I spoke to the official who left his number on the letter and spoke to him about the letter in depth.”

Ravin Trakru, a member of Rahul Residency said, “I have no idea about the survey but definitely if it does not hamper our members security and privacy and maintain Covid19 protocols, we can think of participating in this. I shall convey the message to the chairman and secretary for further action.”
