A video of a young woman attempting to quietly slip out of the Sanand Police Station after being detained in a liquor party raid has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread attention and debate. The incident occurred on Sunday night (July 20) following a police crackdown on an alleged liquor-fueled birthday party at Glade One Golf Club and Resort in Sanand, located on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The video, shared by journalist Jayesh Parmar on X (formerly Twitter) via the handle @JournoJayesh, shows the woman dressed in a black skirt, standing near the entrance of the police station. As other detainees are seen entering in a queue, she slowly veers off to the side, navigating around parked motorcycles in an attempt to sneak out. Her attempt is quickly spotted by alert officers stationed outside, who direct her back inside without incident.
The party, reportedly organized to celebrate the birthday of Pratik Sanghi, said to be linked to the real estate sector attracted around 70 to 80 guests. Acting on a tip-off, joint teams from Sanand, Changodar, and Bopal police stations conducted the late-night raid, accompanied by two independent witnesses. During the operation, 39 individuals, including 13 men and 26 women, were found in an intoxicated state and subsequently detained.
Police carried out breath analyzer tests at the venue and later sent the detainees for medical examinations and blood sampling. Reports also confirm that items worth over ₹90,000, including liquor bottles, hookah pipes, and cigarettes were seized from the premises.
A case has been registered under various sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act, as the state follows strict liquor ban laws. Further legal action is underway. The incident underscores a broader crackdown by the city police and excise department on illegal alcohol consumption, particularly at upscale resorts and farmhouses in rural Ahmedabad.
