As the new month begins, there’s good news for businesses across India. Oil marketing companies have once again slashed the prices of commercial LPG gas cylinders, continuing a trend that’s provided consistent relief for hotels, restaurants, and other commercial establishments. Effective August 1, 2025, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by ₹33.50. However, the benefits stop there—domestic consumers will see no change in the price of the 14.2 kg household cylinder, leaving many disappointed.

This latest price cut brings down the cost of the 19 kg cylinder in Delhi from ₹1,665 to ₹1,631.50. Kolkata sees a reduction of ₹34.50, making the new price ₹1,734.50. In Mumbai, the rate drops by ₹34 to ₹1,582.50, while Chennai now offers the cylinder at ₹1,789 after a ₹34.50 decrease. These revised rates reflect yet another monthly reduction, now marking the fifth consecutive month of commercial LPG price cuts.

The previous four months also witnessed significant reductions: ₹58.50 in July, ₹24 in June, ₹14.50 in May, and ₹41 in April. Altogether, commercial LPG prices have dropped by ₹138 in Delhi, ₹144 in Kolkata, ₹139 in Mumbai, and ₹141.50 in Chennai during this period. This steady decline is a welcome relief for commercial sectors, particularly those in the hospitality and food service industries, where fuel expenses form a major chunk of operational costs.

However, the story is quite different for domestic users. The price of the commonly used 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged since the last hike of ₹50 that was implemented on April 8, 2025. As of now, the domestic cylinder costs ₹853 in Delhi, ₹879 in Kolkata, ₹852.50 in Mumbai, and ₹868.50 in Chennai. This stagnant pricing has left household consumers bearing the brunt, with no reduction in sight and household budgets remaining stretched.
