Pune, Maharashtra: In a significant boost to Maharashtra’s global investment and employment landscape, The Magnum Ice Cream Company HoldCo Netherlands B.V. (Unilever) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra to set up its largest Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Pune.

The MoU signing took place during the IGF Mumbai: NXT25 event and was witnessed by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The proposed investment of ₹900 crore by Magnum is expected to generate over 1,000 high-value jobs, further establishing Pune as a key destination for global capability hubs in India.

Fadnavis expressed his enthusiasm on social media, stating, “Magnum Ice Cream GCC comes to Maharashtra! Unilever’s largest GCC will be set up in Pune, generating high-paying jobs and fueling economic growth.” He also extended gratitude to the Magnum and Unilever leadership for their trust in Maharashtra’s investment climate.

Senior executives from Unilever were present at the signing, including Abhijit Bhattacharya, Global CFO of The Magnum Ice Cream Company; Prashant Premrajka, CFO of Unilever India; and Toloy Tanridagli, CEO of Unilever India Business.

This development marks a new chapter in Maharashtra’s ambition to become a hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), with the Pune unit expected to play a key role in digital, financial, and operational transformation for the global brand.

The investment reinforces Maharashtra’s growing appeal to international corporations looking for a robust and skilled talent base combined with a business-friendly environment.
