Maharashtra Assembly elections: AB Forms Distributed to Key NCP Pune MLAs Amid Alliance Negotiations
Dilip Walse Patil from the Ambegaon assembly constituency, Dilip Mohite Patil from Khed Alandi, and Atul Benke from the Junnar assembly constituency confirmed receiving AB forms
After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its official candidate list, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) distributed AB Forms to some of its MLAs on October 21, confirming their candidacy. In Pune district, Dilip Valse-Patil, Dilip Mohite, and Atul Benke received the forms, while five other NCP MLAs are still waiting for theirs.
The discussion on seat sharing in the Mahayuti alliance has reached its final stages, with the BJP, Shiv Sena, and Nationalist Congress Party largely in agreement on most seats. Candidates for safe seats, where there will be no disputes after the announcement, have been declared.
In the Pune district, there are 8 MLAs alongside Ajit Pawar. Among them, AB forms have been given to Dilip Walse Patil from the Ambegaon assembly constituency, Dilip Mohite Patil from Khed Alandi, and Atul Benke from the Junnar assembly constituency.
As per information, the BJP’s first list included 99 candidates. NCP MLAs were called to Mumbai to collect their AB Forms. Among the eight MLAs linked to Ajit Pawar in Pune, Valse-Patil, Mohite Patil, and Benke confirmed their candidacies. However, some MLAs, like Chetan Tupe from Hadapsar, reported not receiving their AB Forms but received instructions on filing nomination forms. Other MLAs still awaiting their forms include Sunil Tingre, Datta Bharane, Sunil Shelke, and Anna Bansode.
Political parties typically announce their official candidate lists after deciding on seat allocations and selecting candidates. The BJP adhered to this procedure by revealing a list of 99 candidates. In contrast, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chose not to publish a public list; instead, they distributed AB Forms directly to their MLAs, which led to some discussions.
