Maharashtra Cabinet Approves 8 Key Decisions, Announces New Animation, VFX & Gaming Policy 2025
The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, approved eight major policy decisions in its meeting held on Tuesday. Among the most notable announcements was the introduction of the Maharashtra Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) Policy 2025, which includes a long-term roadmap extending up to 2050 with an investment plan worth Rs 3,268 crore.
The Cabinet also sanctioned significant hikes in daily allowances for students residing in government hostels and doubled the sanitation allowance for female students, offering major relief to thousands across the state.
Key Decisions from the Maharashtra Cabinet Meeting:
- Industry Department – Launch of the Maharashtra Animation, VFX, Gaming, Comics & XR Policy 2025, with a vision till 2050 and an investment plan of Rs 3,268 crore.
- Textile Department – Financial assistance approved for Di Nilkanth Cooperative Spinning Mill in Akola, under the 5:45:50 funding ratio scheme.
- Social Justice & Special Assistance – Nearly double increase in daily living allowance for backward class students in government hostels, along with a sanitation allowance hike for girl students.
- Cooperation & Marketing – Extension of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Shetkari Bhavan Yojana for two more years. A budget of Rs 132.48 crore has been approved for building 79 new farmer halls and repairing existing structures across 116 market committees.
- Cooperation & Marketing – Two-year extension for the Modern Orange Processing Centre Project in Nagpur, Katol, Kalmeshwar, Morshi (Amravati) and Sangrampur (Buldhana), with approval for associated structural changes.
- Public Works Department (PWD) – Green signal for a 94-km access-controlled expressway between Bhandara and Gadchiroli. The project, to be executed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), involves land acquisition and development costs of Rs 931.15 crore.
- Energy Department – Approval for the formation of a joint venture company between Mahanirmiti (Mahagenco) and Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (SJVNL) to establish renewable energy projects with a capacity of 5,000 MW across Maharashtra.
- Planning Department – The State Infrastructure Sub-Committee has been upgraded to the status of a Cabinet Committee, which will now oversee all major infrastructure projects.
With these decisions, the Maharashtra government aims to boost digital innovation, education, infrastructure, agriculture, and renewable energy sectors, paving the way for sustainable growth and long-term development in the state.
