Maharashtra CET Cell Launches Online Grievance System For Excess Fee Complaints
Pune, August 18, 2025: Acting on growing complaints of colleges charging excess fees, the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell on Saturday launched an online grievance mechanism for students seeking admission to professional courses for the academic year 2025–26.
The move follows allegations that several private institutes have been violating Fees Regulatory Authority (FRA) guidelines by levying additional charges under names such as “maintenance fee” and “lab maintenance charges.”
According to CET Cell officials, students and parents have reported being coerced into paying such amounts to secure or retain admission. In some cases, even candidates eligible for fee reimbursement under government schemes were forced to pay the entire fee upfront, with no refunds provided later.
“CET Cell has introduced a dual-mode complaint system. Students can either call the helpline or submit a formal grievance online. Verbal complaints will not be considered — documentary proof such as fee receipts, notices, or written communication showing the excess fee must be submitted,” an official said.
The complaint helpline will function on working days from 10 AM to 6 PM at 7700919894. Students can also file grievances with supporting documents through the official CET portal: https://portal.maharashtracet.org.
