Maharashtra: Disability Certificates Now Available At Taluka Level Sub District Hospitals TooÂ
Pune: In a significant decision to aid persons with disabilities, the government has made disability certification services accessible at the taluka level. Sub-district hospitals with a capacity of 100 beds will now provide this facility. Health officials at the district level have been directed to form expert committees and organize disability certification camps on the second and fourth Fridays of every month to address pending applications.
The initiative aims to issue online disability certificates to individuals from 21 categories of disabilities, ensuring their inclusion in the mainstream. Expert doctors will conduct assessments and diagnoses, enabling the issuance of computerized disability certificates and Universal Disability ID (UDID) cards at the taluka level.
Benefits of the Disability Certificate
The certificate will enable persons with disabilities to avail themselves of government schemes offered by various ministries and departments. It will be valid across India, eliminating the need for multiple documents and reducing the burden of maintaining numerous papers. With all necessary details embedded in the certificate, it will serve as the sole identification and verification document for availing of benefits.
Furthermore, this initiative will enhance tracking and implementation of welfare measures at all levels, from village to state and national levels, ensuring the physical and financial progress of beneficiaries.
