Maharashtra Government Expands Digital Governance: Over 500 Services Now on WhatsApp

Maharashtra CM Pushes For Online Delivery Of Health Services And Stronger Primary Care System
Mumbai, March 1, 2025 – In a significant move towards digital governance, the Maharashtra government has announced that more than 500 services from the ‘Aaple Sarkar’ portal will now be accessible via WhatsApp. The initiative was unveiled by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during the inauguration of Mumbai Tech Week 2025.
To facilitate this integration, the state’s Information Technology Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Meta, WhatsApp’s parent company. The partnership aims to enhance accessibility and convenience for citizens seeking government services.
Additionally, the event witnessed the signing of an agreement between the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) for land allocation in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The land will be used for the construction of NPCI’s global headquarters, reinforcing Mumbai’s status as a financial hub.
The Maharashtra government also announced plans to establish a ‘Knowledge AI Hub’ in collaboration with TEAM to drive advancements in artificial intelligence. This initiative is expected to support AI research and development, positioning the state as a leader in the sector.
Furthering its commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, the government revealed plans for an Entrepreneurship Museum to inspire and support startups. These announcements highlight Maharashtra’s focus on digital transformation, technological innovation, and economic growth.
