In a significant boost to Maharashtra’s industrial landscape, the Cabinet Sub-Committee of the Industries Department, chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has approved seven mega and super mega projects worth Rs 81,137 crore. These projects focus on high-technology industries such as lithium batteries, electric vehicles, semiconductor chips, and fruit pulp manufacturing. Large-scale investments will be made in Konkan, Marathwada, and Vidarbha regions, creating direct employment for approximately 20,000 people.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Industries Minister Uday Samant, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister I.S. Chahal, Principal Secretary Vikas Kharge, and Principal Secretary of the Industries Department Dr. Harshdeep Kamble, among others.

Chief Minister Shinde emphasized that various incentives have been announced under the collective incentive scheme as per the industrial policy to encourage industries in the state. The approved projects include high-technology manufacturing of lithium-ion cells/batteries, electric vehicles, semiconductor chips, solar PV modules, electrolyzers, and fruit pulp and juice.

JSW Energy PSP XI Ltd. will invest Rs 25,000 crore in a massive lithium battery manufacturing project in the Nagpur area, creating more than 5,000 jobs. Similarly, JSW Green Mobility Ltd. will undertake a major project to manufacture electric and hybrid vehicles in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar with an investment of Rs 27,200 crore, generating over 5,200 jobs. This project plans to produce 500,000 electric passenger cars and 100,000 commercial vehicles annually.

Hindusthan Coca Cola Beverages will set up a huge fruit pulp and juice-based product manufacturing project in Ratnagiri, investing Rs 1,500 crore. RRP Electronics Company will establish Maharashtra’s first semiconductor manufacturing project, with an initial investment of Rs 12,000 crore in Taloja/Panvel. This project will create over 4,000 jobs in its first phase, with plans for further investment.

Awada Electro Company will set up an integrated project for manufacturing solar PV modules and electrolyzers in Additional MIDC, Butibori, and MIDC Bhokarpada, Panvel. The total investment of Rs 13,647 crore will create more than 8,000 jobs. Additionally, Pernod Ricard India Pvt. Ltd. will establish a large liquor manufacturing project at Additional Butibori MIDC, Nagpur, with an investment of Rs 1,785 crore.

These projects, spread across various high-tech sectors, are expected to significantly contribute to Maharashtra’s economic growth and employment generation, underscoring the state’s commitment to industrial development and technological advancement.
