Maharashtra Residents Can Now Get Up to 70% Subsidy on Solar Rooftop Systems: Turn Sunlight into Big Savings
State and central schemes together cover up to 70% of costs for households and housing societies
Solar energy in Maharashtra is becoming more accessible and affordable, thanks to government-backed subsidies and incentives. Installing a home solar rooftop system can now reduce upfront costs by nearly 40–70%, with both Central and State support available under schemes like the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and the Solar Rooftop Subsidy Maharashtra.
As of 31 July 2025, Maharashtra has achieved 1,608.71 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar capacity, driven largely by residential adoption.

What’s Next for Consumers?
Experts note that small-sized packs (1–3 kW) are most subsidized, making them attractive for households looking to cut electricity bills. Housing societies can also tap into large-scale savings by solarizing common areas. With state and central support covering up to 70% of installation costs, solar energy is no longer just an eco-friendly option but a highly economical one for Maharashtra residents.
