Maharashtra State Board Schools To Shift To Morning Sessions Due To Heatwave Risk
To prevent health risks from the ongoing heatwave, all schools in the state will now operate in morning sessions. Primary schools across all mediums and managements will function from 7:00 AM to 11:15 AM, while secondary schools will run from 7:00 AM to 11:45 AM. However, district authorities may modify these timings if needed, according to official guidelines.
Directors of Primary and Secondary Education, Sharad Gosavi and Sampat Suryawanshi, have issued a joint circular enforcing this schedule. The decision follows recent advisories from the Revenue and Forest Department to mitigate the heatwave’s impact.
Various organizations had also urged for morning school hours to safeguard students’ health.
Schools have been instructed to inform students about heatwave precautions, ensure well-ventilated classrooms, provide drinking water, and encourage light cotton clothing, seasonal fruits, and hydration.
