Maharashtra State Govt Sanctions ₹15 Crore To Decongest Mumbai-Goa Highway; Ajit Pawar Orders Fast-Track Work On 4 Bypass Roads
Mumbai, June 11, 2025: To address the growing traffic congestion on the Mumbai-Goa National Highway, particularly near Indapur and Mangaon bypass sections, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar held a high-level review meeting via video conferencing from Mantralaya today. The meeting resulted in key decisions, including immediate repairs and widening of four alternate roads, with a sanctioned fund of ₹15 crore.
The alternative routes identified are:
1. Morba Road to Mumbai-Goa Highway
2. Sai Nagar Canal Bridge to Uttekhol Canal Village
3. Nizampur Road Canal to Bhadav Road (all within Mangaon Municipal limits)
4. Indapur Canal Road to Vigvali Phata on Mumbai-Goa Highway
These temporary solutions aim to provide immediate relief to commuters until the Indapur and Mangaon bypass projects are completed. Pawar directed concerned departments to expedite the work without delays.
The meeting was attended by Public Works Minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale, Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, MP Sunil Tatkare, senior officials from the Revenue, Finance, Planning, Public Works, and National Highways departments, including Raigad Collector Kisan Jawale, CEO of Raigad ZP Neha Bhosale, and Superintendent of Police Anchal Dalal.
Deputy CM Pawar had conducted an aerial and on-ground inspection of the highway in Raigad on May 18, and today’s meeting followed up on his earlier commitment to resolving traffic woes in the region.
He also instructed Raigad district authorities to deploy additional manpower to manage traffic more effectively and to ensure that congestion is minimized until permanent solutions are in place.
