Maharashtra Teen With 99.99 Percentile in NEET Dies by Suicide, Didn’t Want to Be a Doctor
Chandrapur: A 19-year-old student from Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district, who had scored 99.99 percentile in the NEET UG 2025 exam, died by suicide on the day he was to leave for medical college admission.
The student, identified as Anurag Anil Borkar from Nawargaon in Sindewahi taluka, had secured an All India Rank of 1475 in the OBC category. He was preparing to travel to Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, for admission to an MBBS course.
According to police, Anurag was found hanging at his home before leaving for Gorakhpur. A suicide note was recovered, in which he reportedly wrote that he did not want to pursue a career as a doctor. The Navargaon Police are investigating the case.
This tragic incident once again highlights the heavy academic pressure many teenagers face. Experts say students should be encouraged to share their feelings and seek support from family, friends, or counselors instead of suffering in silence.
