Maharashtra Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Forecast for Next 3 Days, Orange and Yellow Alerts Issued in 27 Districts

Pune, September 26, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Maharashtra, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state over the next three days, from September 27 to 30. While nine districts are under Orange Alert for Saturday, the remaining 27 districts have been placed under Yellow Alert.

Orange and Yellow Alerts by Region

  • Konkan Region:
    Mumbai city, Mumbai suburbs, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg are under Orange Alert. Palghar has been placed under Yellow Alert. IMD forecasts widespread heavy rainfall, with isolated very heavy showers expected in Mumbai and surrounding areas.

  • Western Maharashtra:
    Pune, Satara, and the ghat areas of Kolhapur are under Orange Alert, while the remaining districts in the region are under Yellow Alert. Heavy rainfall is likely at several locations.

Balwadkar
  • North Maharashtra:
    All districts, including Nashik, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar, are under Yellow Alert. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and winds speeding 30–40 kmph are expected in parts of the region.

  • Marathwada:
    Latur, Dharashiv (Osmanabad), and Nanded are under Orange Alert. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, and Beed remain under Yellow Alert.

  • Vidarbha:
    All 11 districts of Vidarbha have been issued a Yellow Alert. Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph is expected in multiple areas.

Advisory for Citizens and Farmers

The weather department has cautioned that after a brief break in rainfall over the past two days, heavy showers will intensify across Maharashtra from September 27 onward. 

Farmers have been advised to safeguard their crops and livestock, while citizens are urged to remain cautious during this period of unpredictable weather.
