Maharashtra Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Likely in 26 Districts, IMD Issues Yellow Alert for September 18
Maharashtra is set to witness heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for 26 districts on September 18, 2025.
The forecast warns of thunderstorms, lightning, and wind speeds of 30 to 40 kmph in several regions.
Rainfall Forecast for Different Regions
- Konkan: South Konkan is likely to receive intense showers. Districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg may experience heavy rain, prompting IMD to issue a yellow alert. Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar are expected to see moderate rainfall.
- Western Maharashtra: All districts, including Kolhapur, Pune, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur, are under yellow alert. Kolhapur may see heavy showers at isolated places, while the remaining districts could face thunderstorms with gusty winds.
- North Maharashtra: Nashik and Ahilyanagar are likely to experience heavy rainfall, with IMD issuing alerts for both. Districts like Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon may get moderate rain.
- Marathwada: A yellow alert has been issued for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Dharashiv, Latur, and Nanded. Meanwhile, Jalna, Parbhani, and Hingoli may witness moderate rainfall.
- Vidarbha: All 11 districts in Vidarbha are expected to face thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. IMD has declared a yellow alert across the region.
Weather Outlook
According to IMD, rain activity is likely to continue for the next 2–3 days. On September 18, 26 districts across the state are under alert, while rainfall is expected to remain active on September 19 and 20 as well.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious, especially in regions prone to flooding and landslides.
