Maharashtra is set to experience heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours as a low-pressure area has developed over the Bay of Bengal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 15 districts on October 4, warning residents of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in several regions.

Mumbai and Konkan Region

Mumbai city and suburbs are expected to witness cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 30°C, while the minimum will remain close to 24°C. Similar conditions of cloudy weather and moderate showers are expected in Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts.

North Maharashtra

Districts including Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon may experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. Ahmednagar has been placed under a yellow alert due to the risk of intense rainfall.

Marathwada Region

Six districts in Marathwada — Beed, Dharashiv (Osmanabad), Latur, Nanded, Parbhani, and Hingoli — have been placed under a yellow alert. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna are also expected to receive heavy rain with thunder and strong winds.

Vidarbha Region

Seven districts in Vidarbha are on alert — Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli, and Yavatmal. These regions are likely to face intense rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds.

Weather Trend

After heavy showers across Maharashtra in September, rainfall had reduced for some time. However, the fresh low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal is now set to revive monsoon-like conditions, bringing back widespread rain activity across the state.
