Week 4 (June 27–July 3):
Above-average rainfall is predicted across Maharashtra, excluding Western Maharashtra and the Konkan belt.

Key Highlights:

  • The Konkan region may receive below-normal rainfall throughout the forecast period, while most other regions can expect good to above-average monsoon showers.
  • Early onset of the monsoon in June has brought light showers, but heavy rainfall is still awaited.
  • The IMD has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms with rain and gusty winds in parts of Thane, Raigad, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur, as well as in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Dharashiv, Latur, Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Wardha, Nagpur, and Gadchiroli districts.

Monsoon Wind Movement Sluggish:

The progress of the southwest monsoon has slowed, with no significant advancement observed over the past week. The monsoon winds, after reaching parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and West Bengal, have stalled.

  • From the Arabian Sea, the monsoon had last advanced on May 26, and from the Bay of Bengal on May 29.
  • As of Thursday, the monsoon front was stable along Mumbai, Ahmednagar, Adilabad, Puri, and up to Balurghat in eastern India.

Due to the current weak monsoon wind conditions, the further advancement of the monsoon remains delayed.
