Mumbai, September 10, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds across 16 districts of Maharashtra on Thursday, September 11. The forecast indicates scattered rainfall activity over Western Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha, while some regions may also experience rising temperatures.

In Konkan and Mumbai, rainfall intensity has eased, but light to moderate showers are expected in Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. Mumbai’s maximum temperature is likely to hover around 31°C, with a minimum of 24°C.

In Western Maharashtra, Pune and Kolhapur may witness light to moderate rainfall with thunder, while Satara, Sangli, and Solapur districts face chances of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. These districts remain under a yellow alert. Pune is expected to record a maximum of 29°C and a minimum of 20°C.

In Marathwada, light to moderate rain is likely in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, and Beed, while Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv are on yellow alert for thunderstorms. Sambhajinagar may see temperatures between 22°C and 30°C.

In North Maharashtra, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, and Ahmednagar may experience light to moderate rainfall. Nashik is likely to see a maximum of 27°C and a minimum of 19°C.

In Vidarbha, no rainfall is expected in Akola, Amravati, and Buldhana. However, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal are likely to see thunderstorms and showers under yellow alert conditions. Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts may face heavy downpours with thunderstorms, prompting a yellow alert. Nagpur’s maximum temperature may reach 32°C, with a minimum of 24°C.

The IMD has also cautioned that rising daytime temperatures in some regions could lead to health issues. Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions against fluctuating weather conditions.
