Maharashtra Woman Booked for Abusing Neighbours, Assaulting Children Over Pet Dog Dispute
A woman has been booked for allegedly using casteist slurs against her neighbours and assaulting their minor children following a dispute over her pet dog in Thane’s Shahapur area, police said on Monday.
According to officials, a group of women had approached the accused on Friday, raising concerns about her dog causing a nuisance in their locality. Instead of addressing their complaints, the woman allegedly reacted aggressively, verbally abusing them and using caste-based slurs.
In a fit of rage, she reportedly turned her anger toward the neighbours’ children, accusing them of making noise that disturbed her pet. She then allegedly assaulted three minors, aged 3, 7, and 8.
Following a complaint, Shahapur police registered a case against the woman under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
“A case has been registered, and a detailed investigation is underway. No arrests have been made so far,” an official stated.
