Maharashtra: Young man dies by suicide after losing Rs 16 Lakh in stock market failure
In a tragic incident, a 28-year-old man reportedly took his own life by self-immolation after suffering significant financial losses in the stock market. On Wednesday evening, Rajendra Kolhe, originally from Vitai in Chandwad taluka, was admitted to a district government hospital in critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries later that night.
Rajendra had moved to Nashik for work and was employed at a private investment company. Instead of sending money back home to his parents, he began investing in the stock market, eventually accumulating investments worth over Rs 16 lakh. However, a recent stock market crash severely impacted his finances, leading him to switch jobs and take a position at a private bank in Myco Circle. The financial loss left him feeling depressed, especially with many people still owing him money.
On Wednesday, which was a holiday for the Mahashivratri festival, Rajendra visited the Trimbakeshwar temple to pay his respects. Sadly, on his way back in the evening, he stopped at Jyoti Vidyalaya in Pimpalgaon Bahula, poured petrol on himself, and set himself on fire.
Once the villagers saw what had happened, they alerted the Satpur police, who quickly arrived at the scene. By that time, the motorcycle was completely burned, and Rajendra had suffered burns covering 90 percent of his body.
After waiting for over an hour without the ambulance arriving, the police, with assistance from local residents, wrapped Rajendra in a sheet and transported him to the district hospital in a police vehicle. Unfortunately, he passed away later that night. According to sources, a case has been filed at the Satpur police station regarding this incident.
