Reports recently surfaced suggesting that actor Sonakshi Sinha is set to marry her longtime partner, actor Zaheer Iqbal, on June 23 in Mumbai. However, her father, veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha, revealed that he and his wife, Poonam Sinha, are still in the dark about the wedding plans.
Shatrughan, who has been occupied with the general elections, told a news agency from Delhi that he hasn’t been informed about his daughter’s plans. “Main bhi utna hi jaanta hoon jitna media mein maine padha hai (I only know what I’ve read in the news),” he said. He added that he and his wife will bless the couple once they are informed of the wedding. “We wish her all happiness always,” he said.
Expressing confidence in his daughter’s judgement, Shatrughan noted, “As a consenting adult, she has the right to make her own decisions.” He humorously mentioned that he would be “dancing right in front of the baaraat (wedding procession)” when the wedding happens.
Reflecting on the generational shift in decision-making, he remarked, “All I can say is, aaj kal ke bachche consent nahin lete maa-baap ke, sirf inform karte hain (Nowadays, children don’t seek permission; they simply inform their parents). We are waiting to be informed.”
Reports indicate that Sonakshi and Zaheer, who have been dating for a few years, will tie the knot on June 23 in Mumbai.
