In a shocking incident on Sunday evening, the Kalindi Express, traveling from Prayagraj to Bhiwani, struck a gas cylinder placed on the railway tracks between Barrajpur and Bilhaur stations in Uttar Pradesh. The collision, which occurred around 8 pm, resulted in the cylinder being thrown nearly 50 meters off the track. Fortunately, a major accident was averted, and no injuries were reported.

The train, which was on the Kanpur-Kasganj route, was halted for 20 minutes following the impact. Railway authorities were quickly informed, and a subsequent search of the area raised concerns as more suspicious materials were reportedly found near the tracks.

Kanpur Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Harish Chander, confirmed the incident and stated that the loco pilot had applied emergency brakes upon spotting the cylinder. “The cylinder collided with the train and fell aside, after which the train came to a halt. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and local police were immediately notified,” he said.

Forensic teams, along with senior officials, are investigating the scene. ACP Chander added that the damaged cylinder and other ‘objectionable material’ found at the site are being examined. Despite the incident, rail traffic remained unaffected, and all other trains continued to run on schedule.
