Major Disruption on Mumbai–Pune Route This Weekend as Central Railway Announces Mega Block
Karjat yard reorganisation to halt key intercity trains including Deccan Queen, Pragati, and Indrayani on October 11–12.
Thousands of daily commuters between Mumbai and Pune will face major inconvenience this weekend as Central Railway has announced a special traffic block between Karjat and Neral for yard reorganisation and pre–non-interlocking work. The mega block, scheduled for October 11 and 12, will impact several important intercity and long-distance trains on the Mumbai–Pune and Mumbai–Solapur routes.
Train Services Affected:
As part of the two-day block, Central Railway has cancelled major intercity trains including Pragati Express, Deccan Queen, Deccan Express, Intercity Express, and Indrayani Express on both Saturday and Sunday. The Sinhagad Express service for Sunday has also been cancelled.
Impact on Long-Distance Trains:
Several long-distance trains on the Mumbai–Solapur route will also be affected. The Mumbai–Solapur–Mumbai Vande Bharat Express service stands fully cancelled on October 12. Additionally, the Solapur–Mumbai Siddheshwar Express will terminate at Pune instead of Mumbai on the same day, forcing passengers to make alternate arrangements.
Local Train Services:
Local train operations between Karjat–Neral and Karjat–Khopoli will remain completely suspended during the block period. However, services between Neral and CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) will continue to run as usual.
- On October 11, the last local from Karjat to CSMT will depart at 11:19 a.m.
- On October 12, services will resume with the first local departing Karjat for CSMT at 7:43 p.m.
Further, additional three-hour blocks will be taken on October 13 and 14 from 11:20 a.m. to 2:20 p.m., suspending local operations on the Karjat route during those hours.
Passenger Advisory:
Central Railway has urged passengers to check train schedules before travelling and plan their journeys accordingly. The disruption is expected to cause inconvenience, particularly to weekend travellers and festive shoppers heading to and from Mumbai.
