Man Kidnapped and Extorted in Pune After Meeting on Dating App
Pune: A 28-year-old man faced a terrifying ordeal after meeting an acquaintance from an online dating app, leading to kidnapping, assault, and extortion in the Kharadi area. The victim was forcibly taken into a car by four unidentified individuals, who attempted to assault him. When he resisted, they physically attacked him and threatened to tarnish his reputation.
The incident occurred on February 25 when the victim arranged to meet at a café in Kharadi around 10:30 PM. Upon arrival, he was ambushed and pushed into a vehicle that drove towards Wagholi on Pune Nagar Road. Inside the car, the attackers groped, abused, and assaulted him before forcing him to transfer ₹1,09,999 to multiple bank accounts.
After managing to escape, the victim reported the matter to Kharadi police station. Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita, and an investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects.
