Man Sells Library to Fund Wife’s Studies, She Becomes Police Officer and Leaves Him
Haryana – A shocking case has surfaced from Haryana’s Palwal district where a man has accused his wife of deceiving him by concealing their marriage and securing a job in the Delhi Police.
The complainant, Pritam, alleged that during the verification process, his wife falsely declared herself as unmarried, despite being married to him. He said the truth only came to light later. After completing her police training in February 2025, his wife reportedly left for her parental home and cut all contact with him.
When Pritam went to bring her back, her family refused, claiming the marriage was not socially recognized. His wife too categorically refused to live with him.
Complaint Filed
Pritam has lodged complaints with the Haryana Chief Minister, the National Human Rights Commission in New Delhi, and the Delhi Police Commissioner. He claimed that his wife is pressuring him for divorce and accused her of deliberately hiding their marriage details.
In addition, he has approached the court under Section 9 of the Hindu Marriage Act, seeking restitution of conjugal rights. The hearing in this case has been scheduled for February 2026.
How It Began
According to reports, Pritam, a 26-year-old resident of Badoli village in Palwal, had started a library in 2021 to help students preparing for government jobs. It was here that he met the woman, a resident of Rajiv Nagar. Their friendship gradually turned into love, and they decided to get married.
On January 4, 2023, the couple tied the knot at an Arya Samaj temple in Ballabhgarh and began living together in a rented flat. Around the same time, his wife applied for recruitment in the Delhi Police.
Pritam claims that to support her education and exam preparation, he sold his library and even some land. He also provided her with financial and academic help to clear both the written exam and physical test. In February 2024, she was called for training.
However, once her training ended, she refused to continue living with him, leaving Pritam battling both personal and legal struggles.
