Khairthal-Tijara (Rajasthan): A gruesome murder case has surfaced in Kishangarh Bas town after police recovered the body of a 35-year-old man, Hansraj alias Suraj, from a sealed blue plastic drum placed on the rooftop of his rented house.

Hansraj, originally from Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh, had moved to Adarsh Colony about six weeks ago with his wife Sunita and their three children — Harshal, Nandini, and Golu. He was employed at a local brick kiln.

The murder came to light on Sunday morning when a foul smell alerted the landlord’s wife, Mithlesh, who then found the drum. Police said Hansraj’s throat had been slit, his body covered with salt to hasten decomposition, and the drum sealed with a stone to mask the stench. A forensic team examined the spot, and the body was sent for post-mortem.

The case has taken a grim twist as Sunita, the three children, and the landlord’s son Jitendra have all been missing since Saturday. Police revealed Hansraj often consumed alcohol with Jitendra, whose wife had died 12 years ago. Both families disappeared the same evening, raising suspicions of their involvement.

Khairthal-Tijara SP Manish Chaudhary confirmed it was a planned killing. “We are searching for the missing individuals, and the case will be solved soon,” he said.

Police teams, led by DSP Rajendra Singh Nirwan and other officers, inspected the crime scene. Hansraj’s family in Uttar Pradesh has been informed. Investigators are probing all possible angles, including the roles of the missing persons and the motive behind the killing.

The brutal crime has sent shockwaves through Adarsh Colony, drawing chilling parallels with the February 2025 Meerut case, where a Merchant Navy officer’s body was found hidden in a drum by his wife.
