Pune, December 3:Â As part of the National Deworming Day initiative, a campaign will be conducted from December 4 to December 10, 2024, aiming to distribute deworming tablets to approximately 1.16 million beneficiaries across the district. District Health Officer Dr. Sachin Desai shared this information, emphasizing the importance of the program.
The primary goal of National Deworming Day is to ensure the health, nutrition, education, and overall well-being of children aged 1 to 19 years by administering deworming tablets at schools and anganwadi centers. Following guidelines from the central government, the campaign will be implemented by the departments of Public Health, Women and Child Development, and Education.
The campaign will cover government schools, government-aided schools, ashram schools, municipal schools, private schools, CBSE schools, Navodaya Vidyalayas, correctional homes, private English-medium schools, madrasas, missionary schools, gurukuls, sanskar kendras, junior and senior colleges, nursing colleges, ITIs, polytechnics, engineering, arts, commerce, science, and pharmacy colleges, as well as rural and urban anganwadi centers.
Dr. Desai advised that mild symptoms may appear after consuming the tablets, and children should rest in shaded areas and drink clean water. For severe symptoms, they should be taken to the nearest health center. Additional support is available by contacting the toll-free helpline at 104.
Santosh Patil, CEO, Zilla Parishad, Pune: Highlighting the importance of creating a strong and healthy younger generation for a robust India, he announced that on December 4, 2024, National Deworming Day will be marked by the distribution of tablets across 108 primary health centers, 544 health sub-centers, 5,570 schools, 4,693 anganwadis, and 165 colleges in Pune district. Parents are urged to ensure that children aged 1 to 19 receive the deworming tablet.
