Mayor Usha Dhore directs Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to inspect and survey the transformers in the city for the safety of citizens. The directives came after the recent incident that took place in Indrayani Nagar took lives of few people.
She even held a meeting with the authorities of the MSEDCL to discuss the reasons for the transformer blast and the safety standards of the rest of the transformers in the city.
While speaking with Pune Pulse, she said, “The transformer blast incident in Indrayani nagar was an unexpected shock. MSEDCL must take strict action against the authorities whose negligence caused the loss of lives. The authority must also give compensation to the family for the loss of lives.”

When Pune Pulse raised this issue with MSEDCL’s Nishikant Raut, Public Relations Officer, he said, “A team from MSEDCL head office is investigating the matter and in the coming two days, a report will be submitted, based on which action will be taken if there is any negligence caused by the authorities.”
When asked about the compensation to the families, he said, “The family members shall get Rs 4 lakhs as compensation.”
