An extraordinary story of resilience, determination, and giving back to society.

Dr. Hitesh Choudhary’s path to becoming a medical officer at a rural hospital in Goveli, Kalyan, was anything but straightforward. Born to a family struggling with financial hardships, his journey from a municipal school student in Pune to a dedicated doctor is a testament to perseverance and the power of community support.

Humble Beginnings and Early Challenges

Dr. Choudhary’s family, originally from Pali, Rajasthan, migrated to Pune in search of better job opportunities. He studied in a municipal school until class four, when his talent earned him a scholarship to attend KC Thackeray Vidya Niketan School, run by the Akanksha Foundation and Mphasis F1 Foundation. This scholarship covered his tuition and books, leaving only travel expenses for his family to manage.

However, life took a harsh turn when his father’s illness forced the family to sell their shop, their sole source of income. By the time Hitesh reached class seven, his family was on the brink of returning to Rajasthan, unable to afford basic living costs or his education.

A Lifeline in Adversity

At this critical juncture, the teachers at Hitesh’s school stepped in. Recognizing his potential and the family’s struggles, they encouraged his mother to seek work and even helped her secure a housekeeping job at a private hospital. This newfound stability enabled the family to remain in Pune and allowed Hitesh to continue his studies.

The Inspiration to Give Back

The kindness of his teachers left a lasting impression on Hitesh. “They did so much for someone who was just one student in their school. Their efforts to help my mother find a job inspired me to give back to society,” he said. This resolve shaped his career aspirations, with Hitesh choosing between two professions where he could make a difference: teaching and medicine.

Hitesh’s journey to becoming a doctor wasn’t smooth. Despite scoring well in the NEET exam, an issue with his domicile certificate delayed his admission. Undeterred, he took a drop year, worked hard, and successfully cracked the exam again. His determination mirrored that of his elder brother, who lived with their grandparents in Rajasthan and pursued a career in medicine, eventually becoming a cardio surgeon.

Today, as a doctor serving in a rural hospital, Dr. Hitesh Choudhary embodies resilience and empathy. Reflecting on his journey, he shares, “If you want to do something, go for it. Even if you don’t have money, someone will help you. Don’t stop because of mental or financial obstacles. Seek help, and you’ll find a breakthrough.”

Dr. Choudhary’s story is a powerful reminder of how determination, community support, and the will to succeed can overcome even the toughest challenges.
