The mother shared her joy at having brought the nation’s first Beta baby into the world.
In 2025, the world has made an entry into the so-called ‘Generation Beta’, and on New Year’s Day, January 1, India celebrated the arrival of its first baby from this generation in Aizawl, Mizoram.
Frankie Remruatdika Zadeng, a baby boy, arrived at 12:03 AM on January 1 at Durtlang’s Synod Hospital in Aizawl, marking him as the first birth of Generation Beta. Sister Lalchhuanawmi from the Lawmna Ward of the hospital reported that the baby boy is healthy and free from any complications.
The newborn arrived weighing 3.12 kg, heralding the dawn of a new generation.
As reported by Akashvani News Aizawl, Frankie is the latest addition to his family, which includes his older sister, mother Ramzirmawii, and father ZD Remruatsanga. They reside in the Khatla East area of Aizawl.
Starting January 1, 2025, a new and younger generation will emerge, known as Generation Beta. This cohort, often referred to as Gen Beta, will encompass individuals born between 2025 and 2039, as identified by McCrindle, an Australian trends and demographic analysis firm that also named the preceding group, Generation Alpha.
Futurist Mark McCrindle introduced the term ‘Gen Beta’ to refer to infants born from 2025 to 2039, predicting that by 2035, they will account for 16 percent of the world’s population.
In his blog post, McCrindle noted that the upcoming generation will consist of the offspring of millennials and older members of Gen Z, emphasizing that a significant number of these Gen Beta children are expected to reach the 22nd century.
The post elaborated that the last and new generations are referred to as Alpha and Beta to indicate not only new generations but also the first ones influenced by a completely different world.
“In an era where AI (artificial intelligence) and automation are fully embedded in everyday life, from education and workplaces to healthcare and entertainment. Gen Beta will grow up in a world shaped by breakthroughs in technology, evolving social norms, and an increasing focus on sustainability and global citizenship,” says his post.
Globally, a baby girl born at 12:05 AM on Wednesday, January 1, in Australia is believed to be the first member of the new Beta generation.
